Blogs from the Inside

bruceMy friend Bruce recently completed a 3 ½ year prison sentence. He was one of 2 million Americans incarcerated in the US prison system. When Bruce told me about his day-to-day life as an inmate, I was frequently surprised about how little I knew about life in prison. Prior to Bruce’s incarceration, my entire perception of prison had been formed by movies and crude stand-up comedians.

I wanted to give Bruce the opportunity to share his experiences with others, and to give A!A! fans an opportunity to get a glimpse of some of the realities of prison life. I hope you will read at least a few of Bruce’s entries—his writing is candid and thoughtful, fascinating and enlightening.
