I’m playing Red and Black in a week with Jeff Rowe! And Lee Corey Oswald! And Beach Party! Monday, May 7th…see you there!
Another new song! I contributed to one of the tracks on The Animals of Ambivalence, a 5-song EP. It’s a collection of collaborations between Katy Otto (of Trophy Wife, Del Cielo, Bald Rapunzel, and a bunch of other great bands) and various musician-friends of hers. Katy wrote the lyrics for our song, “Owl”, and I performed the music and vocals (with some additional instrumentation help from my buddy Oscar of Ghost Robot Ninja Bear). I’m particularly excited to share it because I think it’s a slightly different style of acoustic music from what I’ve normally written. You can download a track from the record and purchase the CD on the Exotic Fever website. Go for it!
I’m playing the NXNW Record Release Party tomorrow night…I won’t be releasing a record, but 8 other bands are! Come hang out.

Boo-yah. This is now streaming on Bandcamp. Or buy it for just 5 bucks and get 70 SONGS. All proceeds go to charity, so you really can’t afford not to do it. Karmically speaking.
If you’re anywhere near Boston (Cambridge, to be exact), check out these release shows for the H.E.L.L. charity compilation! For more details on the comp, check out the previous post.

New Attica! Attica! song and an awesome cause!
I am very excited to share the news that I’m included in a double vinyl compilation that benefits H.E.L.L., an organization that gives out bike helmets in an effort to raise awareness about bike safety and protect more noggins. H.E.L.L. is taking strides towards making helmets a standard accessory for everyone. Like the founders of H.E.L.L., I have also lost a close friend to a head injury. It’s time that we cyclists acknowledge the risks of biking, stop worrying about our hairdos and put on some damn helmets.
You can get the vinyl here, or the digital here. Considering that you get either a double vinyl LP or a 70-song digital comp AND you get to help out a great charity, the prices are quite reasonable. You will also be the only person you know who owns a double LP compilation. Do it.
Hey everyone. (I say that like I know there’s a legitimate crowd of people listening to me type. Isn’t that the way the internet works? We all think that someone is paying attention to everything we do online. I guess it’ a low-risk assumption. If you treat the internet like it’s paying attention, and it is, then you’re right, and if it isn’t, then no one noticed that you made such a self-centered assumption. Win-win.) Anyways.
I’m playing my first Portland show since the summertime! It will be at Reed College in the Student Union. 3 bucks. I know a lot of you people (real or imagined) don’t live anywhere near Portland, but hey. It’s a show. Gonna be a goodie!
NORTHEAST SHOWS!

This is a pan flute. It came in this pan flute-shaped package from Peru. My friend Rich bought it for me. It is the first dare I have ever received in the mail. After he caught me boasting about all the instruments I used on my last song, he decided to buy me one of these as a challenge. Let this be a lesson to you all: bragging about your accomplishments only results in pan flutes from the mailman.
